    ICLC is looking for a talented atorney to help increase our use of pro bono resources to represent lowincome tenants facing eviction from their homes. The Eviction Defense Pro Bono Coordinator has primary responsibility for utilizing pro bono partnerships to support and expand ICLC’s eviction defense work. They will utilize their own knowledge of and experience with unlawful detainer cases and state court civil litigation to bring pro bono partners on board and support their representation. They will also help build a pipeline of students interested in housing justice work and collaborate with ICLC’s legal services partners to coordinate outreach and trainings to the private bar.

    The California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District, located in Sacramento, is accepting applications for an appellate court attorney.  The individual(s) selected will be appointed at a level commensurate with their qualifications.

    Appellate court attorneys conduct research and prepare case material relating to civil, criminal and juvenile law appeals.  Responsibilities may differ depending upon the experience and qualifications of the individual(s) selected.  All levels of appellate court attorney perform legal duties and read, review and analyze case records; conduct research of legal issues; draft memoranda and proposed opinions; edit and revise memoranda and proposed opinions; and perform other related work as required.  The justice to whom an appeal is assigned directs, reviews and edits staff work product.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Draft debt collection and other complaints.
    • Communicate with debtors (and their attorneys) and clients to resolve debts.
    • Draft and respond to written discovery.
    • Take depositions.
    • Draft and oppose motions.
    • Attend hearings in state court and bankruptcy court.
    • Conduct debtor examinations.
    • Represent creditors is bankruptcy cases.

    Terms:

    • Full time is preferred, but 20+ hours per week can be considered.
    • Remote work is possible after 60 days. 
    • Full time salary of approx. $100,000, depending on experience.
    • Bonuses based on performance and hours billed.

    As an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division, attorneys will be responsible for prosecuting federal crimes, including offenses involving drug trafficking and smuggling; child exploitation; gang activity and violence; illegal immigration; national security and border security; elder abuse; cybercrime; theft of intellectual property; and financial crimes, complex fraud and/or corruption in government, health care, banking, securities, corporate activities, federal procurement, bankruptcies, and federal taxation. They will also work with law enforcement agencies to investigate such crimes, research and brief legal issues, and represent the United States in hearings, trials, and appeals.
