Los Gatos is an affluent historic town in Santa Clara County, California, located at the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains in the southwestern corner of Silicon Valley.

The Town Attorney advises the Town Council, staff, boards, and commissions on legal matters; drafts and reviews contracts, ordinances, and resolutions; negotiates key transactions; and advises on land use decisions. The office also represents the Town in litigation and administrative proceedings, prosecutes Municipal Code violations, manages claims and liability matters, and oversees outside counsel, insurance, and risk management.

The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable, ethical, and collaborative legal advisor with strong leadership skills and sound judgment. They will build trusted relationships, develop practical solutions to advance the Council’s goals, and effectively balance competing priorities while serving an engaged community.

Extensive executive- or senior-level municipal law experience serving as a Town Attorney, Assistant Town Attorney, or in an equivalent capacity is required. Candidates should demonstrate a strong record of leadership and the ability to address complex and evolving municipal issues, including large-scale projects and significant land use and housing matters. The selected
candidate must possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and maintain active membership in the State Bar of California.

Annual salary range with benefits: $325,000 - $355,000.
