Manning Kass is a national civil litigation defense firm that stands out from the rest—every case and client matters. Established in 1994 with just sixteen attorneys, we have expanded over the past thirty years to more than 170 attorneys across eight offices, including major economic hubs like New York and Los Angeles.

The Landlord/Tenant/Habitability team represents landlords and property management companies relating to all aspects of building safety and health code issues in rental properties. Associates work closely with lead attorneys daily, engaging in all phases of litigation—from case evaluation and discovery to trial presentation—focusing on strategic thinking to achieve client goals. We seek candidates who are eager to learn, highly self-motivated, and interested in long-term professional growth.

 Responsibilities include the following:

  • Attending court hearings, participating in site inspections, taking and defending depositions.
  • Drafting extensive written discovery, including preparing and responding to interrogatories, documents requests and request for admissions.
  • Evaluating, analyzing, assessing, and executing litigation strategies.
  • Proactively manage communications with clients throughout the course of litigation.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and active California Bar license required.
  • Minimum 3 years of insurance coverage experience.
  • Civil litigation experience, preferably in a law firm setting, with strong time management and deadline skills.

Locations (California): Los Angeles, Costa Mesa and San Diego.

Annual salary with benefits: $130,000 - $180,000 and bonus.
