Community Legal Aid SoCal (CLA SoCal) seeks experienced and mission driven Staff Attorneys (2) to provide high-quality alternative dispute resolution services.
The Voluntary Eviction Diversion Pilot Program (VEDPP) staff attorneys(s) will assist Community Legal Aid SoCal (CLA SoCal) attorney mediators and Supervising Attorney in implementing and operating the VEDPP, a court-based initiative at the Compton Los Angeles Superior Court designed to reduce eviction filings and prevent homelessness through mediation and rental assistance coordination. This in-person, full-time non-exempt position reports to the Supervising Attorney. A hybrid schedule may be available when the program is established.
Qualifications:
Attorney with a J.D. and active bar membership, bringing 3+ years of legal experience, ideally in housing or landlord-tenant law. Knowledge of mediation and court procedures preferred. Able to manage high-pressure situations, handle difficult litigants, and multitask in a fast-paced environment. Self-motivated, proactive, and solutions-oriented with strong problem-solving skills. Experienced in collaborating with courts, government agencies, and community organizations, and committed to trauma-informed client service. Bilingual Spanish preferred, along with reliable transportation and alignment with organizational mission and values.
Location: Compton.
Annual salary with benefits: $80,000-$98,000.
