The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) is a non-partisan, non-profit educational organization dedicated to promoting Asian American and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander (AA & NH/PI) participation and representation at all levels of the political process, from community service to elected office.

The APAICS Regional Leadership Academy (RLA) is a two-day leadership training event for community stakeholders, individuals seeking to run for public office, current elected officials, and those with an interest in policymaking or social justice. The OC RLA will utilize scenarios based on elected positions in the state of California; however, participants do not have to be from Orange County or the Southern California area to participate.

Dates: Friday & Saturday September 18-19, 2026

Schedule: Training is all day on both days. Because of the interactive format of the training, participants must be able to attend both days. Please refer to our website for a sample schedule.

Location: CSU Fullerton School of Business and Economics. 2500 Nutwood Ave, Fullerton, CA 92831

Cost of Attendance

There is a $100 registration fee to attend the RLA. Upon acceptance, program participants will be asked to pay this amount. The fee covers the entire training, breakfast and lunch for both days, and attendance at a community reception after the Friday session of the training. If you are unable to pay the $100, scholarship options may be available upon request. Participants are responsible for transportation and lodging costs.

The California Asian Pacific American Bar Association (Cal-APABA) is thrilled to announce the 2026 Cal-APABA Annual Conference, coming to San Diego!

There is also a Kid’s Dash & 1-Mile Fun Run.

KIWANIS of Irvine is teaming up with CircleK of Irvine Valley College to make pineapple and coconut pancakes. KID's READ will be giving out a free book to pancake purchasers.

COURSE
Flat, scenic, out-and-back along the paved beach path with ocean views. Run fast or take it easy, the waves will be your soundtrack.

PARKING
Bolsa Chica State Beach, Lot 25 — State Park Parking fee (Park and Pay New system)

Free limited Public parking available in Sunset Beach (walking required into park)

RESTROOMS
Restrooms are open and located on each end of lot 25.

STROLLERS
Strollers are welcome! Please stay to the right and use at your own risk. Only registered participants with a bib will receive a finisher medal. Be sure your bib is worn on the front and visible to finish line staff.

PETS
Friendly Pets are allowed and must be leashed at all times and accompanied by a Run /Walk participant. Please use a leash of 5 ft or less, for the safety of all pets and runners. Line up towards the back of the pack at the start and keep to the side of the race field on the course.

WEATHER
Rain or shine, the event will go on.

FUNDRAISER
Not interested in participating in the event but you would still like to participate in some way? The promoter is raising funds for the Nepali that farm and port for climbers in the Himalayas. The goal is to provide a safe, resilient hub to give the local farming community a secure place to gather, share meals, seek shelter during severe weather, and support travelers and porters passing through.
